Scope

Under the BOT works scheme, the Company shall develop, design, finance, procure, construct, test, commission, operate and maintain the Umm Al Hayman Wastewater Treatment Plant (the “Plant”) which will have an initial output capacity of 500,000 m3 per day. Upon completion of the Plant, the Company shall thereafter operate and maintain it for a period of 25 years. The Plant shall be designed in a way that it could further be expanded by 200,000 m3 per day based on the approval of the Buyer, upon which the ultimate capacity of the Plant shall reach 700,000 m3 per day. Under the DBO works scheme, the Company, through a special purpose company, UAH DBO Company for General Contracting for Building S.P.C. (100% subsidiary of the Company) has taken over the related existing facilities from MPW in providing the operations and maintenance services, along with the development, design, construction and related activities of sewage influent and treated sewage effluent networks, reservoirs, transmission facilities together with a major power transformer station.

Construction Activities

As the main technical contractor for the Company, Wassertechnik Essen GmbH (WTE) from Germany (a co-owner of the Company) will be responsible for the design and construction of a wastewater treatment plant (contract value of around KWD 200 million) as well as - together with partners – erect a sewer network with pumping stations and a TSE network with Reservoirs (contract value of around KWD 320 million) . With a huge and complex construction scope , this is considered one of the world’s largest and most complex wastewater projects.

WTE feels committed and bound to this sustainable approach, having already implemented it in more than 100 projects in 18 countries.

Within a timeframe of 30 months for the Plant and 48 months for the sewerage system with pumping stations, the Project shall be implemented. Thereafter, the Plant shall be operated and maintained for 25 years.

Operational Performance

The operational and maintenance services are also outsourced to WTE.
